Rename the main square after a local teacher
We propose renaming the main square in the Old Town district to “Clara Requena Square” in honor of a local public school teacher who dedicated more than 40 years to education and social justice. Clara was a beloved figure in the neighborhood, known for her innovative teaching methods, tireless community work, and her defense of inclusive public education. The current name of the square has no meaningful historical or cultural significance to the area. Renaming it after Clara Requena would not only recognize her legacy but also send a message about the value we place on education, care, and local leadership. This symbolic act would reinforce the neighborhood’s identity and promote civic pride among residents, especially the younger generation.
